Yesterday’s shooting, which occurred at one of the busiest corners in our region, has shaken our community. I want to extend gratitude to the many civil servants who worked quickly and bravely to keep us all safe.

Gun violence is not isolated and it does not discriminate; it touches us all. We will continue to work with our partners in law enforcement, the King County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Seattle, and Sound Transit to tackle security challenges downtown and elsewhere.
