The new facility is a significant upgrade. With ADA improvements, including a tactile path & tactile signs, an elevator to the pedestrian bridge that connects to the new Washington State Ferries terminal, & an ADA assistance station, it is more accessible in every sense.

And I’d like to note that by removing tons of creosote-treated timber piles and capping contaminated sediments, this facility earned a “Platinum” certification under the King County Green Building Program.

Combined, +1M people took the King County Water Taxi & Kitsap Fast Ferry last year. Passenger-ferry service is a major part of our regional transportation infrastructure. This new facility will help us continue the journey, & set sail for even more destinations in the future.

As a Vashon bike commuter, I can report that the 180 degree switchbacks in the queue were very awkward to navigate. Please revise the queue to a single long line with no switchbacks. Or handle bikes separately. Thanks!
