Tick-tock, tick-tock. How much faster is all-door boarding? We timed it.pic.twitter.com/ohAvtgm15i
We've already installed fixed ORCA card readers at 21 of the 31 Metro bus stops on 3rd Avenue and will install the rest by end of the year. In the meantime, we'll have staff at those 10 stops with handheld readers during afternoon commutes to speed up boardings. - staffpic.twitter.com/h1MgqwY0nj

Maybe I phrased my question wrong. I'm just wondering how you guys will keep track of per-route ridership statistics if people are using off board orca readers. The orca reader doesn't know which route someone got on, does it?

ORCA isn't used to calculate ridership, we use automated passenger counters (electric-eye technology) at each door on about 50% of our fleet (and rising) to sample and estimate ridership. Fleet with APCs is rotated around the system to obtain an accurate sample.
