Why not 3am? Seems really shortsighted. This acknowledges they know it is an issue, and can run on this schedule everyday, or at least have weekend hours(Friday/Saturday). Most people out till close wont make the last rain, much less those who work, in service. @mshannabrooks
Safely ring in the new year with @kcmetrobus and @soundtransit. King County buses will offer free rides for all customers starting at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve & Link light rail will also be extending service to 2 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1.

I suspect it's due to the cleaning schedule, which typically requires at least four to five hours (i.e. Link wouldn't be able to open until well into the morning) but I could be wrong.
