Our country’s first #VeteransDay, then called Armistice Day, took place on November 11, 1919, to mark the end of the Great War one year earlier. It was later declared by Congress a day set aside by a grateful nation to honor and recognize the brave veterans of that war.
In doing so, voters helped create funding for our King County Veterans Program and the incredible work they do to help local veterans, returning service members and their families connect to housing, job training, counseling, and other supports to successfully transition home.

It was important to honor our veterans 100 years ago, and it is just as important today. Please join me in thanking our veterans, active duty personnel and their families for their dedication and service to our country.
