There's no way to dramatically increase transit ridership overnight -- even with no fares collected -- b/c there simply aren't enough buses and trains available to deploy immediately. Most are already in operation. 1/2
And no qualified drivers to drive them!! If I applied for @kcmetrobus did the interview background check physical and anything else needed it would likely be a couple months before training and a few more before I’d be fully qualified. So it takes time.

What can we do to get the 3 empty seats in most cars filled? If people can build bike lanes overnight with toilet plungers, surely we could get coned/taped off dedicated bus and bike lanes to increase the use of transit vehicles we already have.
