Today is batch audit day! That means we hand count batches of ballots to ensure the tabulation system is counting correctly - this is just one of a variety of tests and audits we conduct before, during, and after every single election.pic.twitter.com/vfyxrgBd2w
Teams of two first review the ballots in their batch to sort into piles by selection (and over and under votes). They will then both independently count each pile and once hand counted, we will compare against what the tabulation system reported.
There are observers present from both major political parties, as well as the @secstatewa’s office to watch the process in person.
How does one qualify to be a ballot counter/checker?
