App Store edition of OmniGraffle 7 will be a free download. Worth reading by people who publish on the App Store: https://www.omnigroup.com/blog/providing-the-best-possible-app-store-experience …

@brentsimmons This is a really good way to do it. Can you share how the free trial is implemented? In-app purchase at Tier 0?

      Ken Case ‏@kcase Sep 29

@palmin Exactly: a one-time In-App Purchase with price tier 0. We count down 14 days from the purchase date, then return to unlicensed mode.

@kcase @palmin Do you have to get the user's permission for that tier 0 purchase or can you automatically purchase it?

@danielpunkass Like any other in-app purchase, they have to be logged into an App Store account and authorize that purchase.

@kcase Thanks! So the apps will just be "read only" mode if user downloads and declines to "buy" that trial?

        5. Ken Case ‏@kcase Sep 29

@danielpunkass Yes, exactly. (And can start the trial later if they wish. Or just buy the app. Or not.)

@kcase I'm already thinking about how going this path might eliminate 99% of the need for a web-based store. IAP everywhere makes sense, no?

@danielpunkass We still have customers that want to buy direct for volume discounts, cross-app bundle discounts, etc.

@kcase Yeah that all makes sense. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
