My mom got her GED and my dad joined the military after highschool. They're proud of me, if not still a little confused about what I'm actually doing in my PhD program.

Very nice analysis shows how you can decode behavioral state from whisker movements alone

How do internal states shape an animal's behavior? How do you even know what state an animal is in? My paper with showing how to infer internal state, and how it helps us better understand the nervous system, now in !

Excited to share our new study in collab with Elad Schneidman : we find distinct representation of social cues in mouse prefrontal cortex, that are refined with experience, but are impaired in a mouse model of autism.

I'm sorry, but I am not remotely impressed by academics working 100 hours/week. First of all, you cannot tell me that you maintain the same productivity for 100 hours as you could for 40-50. And you are setting a horrible example for junior scholars in terms of self-exploitation.

A question I get a lot from people: how do I know what science news to trust? Here is my helpful list. Yes it involves work on the part of the consumer, but that's life these days.

Calling all US tweeps on my TL, have you had a good experience with the UPenn vector core? Our DNA has been stuck in order purgatory since July and they refuse to give more information other than 'order will be ready in 3-5 weeks'. It's been half a year!!!

This week I got told to cover my tattoos if I wanted to be taken seriously in a biotech competition. I didn’t cover them and my team made it to the final because we were absolute fire and I can be hella tattooed and hella successful 🔥

Me, writing an email: I'm using an exclamation point so you know I'm friendly and excited! But now I'm using a period so that you know I'm not crazy. Here's another sentence with a period as a buffer, proving my normalness. Thanks so much!

HI. If you're a "dude" in science, I have a request for you: Find a paper with a non-dude as a first author. Find a tool created by a non-dude. Then, write it as a Twitter post and share with Please spread the word with RTs, thank you 💗
