Since the readings are not necessary for understanding, I tend to just try to understand the sentence. Some words are familiar but I forgot the reading and some words are new but they contain familiar kanji. In both cases, looking up the reading would be unnecessary. (2/3)

I’ve never followed any “approaches” or “methods” but I usually look up the word as a whole if I have time and learn it as an item of vocabulary rather than separate kanji and add the meanings to an ongoing mental dictionary. Sometimes you can use the non-radical element to get
