hi babies, i've started a newsletter. it's about all the trash culture that keeps us from diving into the abyss (sudoku, stacey solomon, truly deranged romcoms and the tv show Charmed) and it starts this friday

always found ed sheeran's music quite dead behind the eyes but this album changes all that (recommend hitting STOP before you hit the hobbit song at the end though)

loved talking to about what felt like absolutely everything from crippling anxiety to tipsily @-ing people on social media and the escapist power of pop. she wants to solve all the world's problems and, tbh, she's giving it a decent go

UK allies, please sign and share this petition voicing opposition to the gov's transphobic reform of the Equality Act. Especially cis women – this campaign is being waged in our name, it's vital that we speak up and stand with the trans community

I’ve been advised to not talk about this. I’ve been threatened as well. But I don’t care any more
In the Spring of 2022 about half of my yearly income went into the pocket of a guy called Marley Dennis who trades under the names , Essential Merch & Hoxton Music Group

Caught up with to discuss Reach For The Stars, his excellent dive into the world of late 90s/early 2000s pop stardom.
The campaign to get him to leak the original, 25,000-word Sugababes chapter starts here. #ReleaseTheCraggcCut

(i do not include my work under the heading of serious criticism btw, i'm mainly in it to make jokes and annoy the three old men who keep messaging me to tell me i suck)

anyway all the best to him, i hope he is feeling ok, but it's just a frustrating misunderstanding about what criticism is and is for. it's not the same thing as 150 million people wanting to play your song at their wedding.

so to then turn around and be all 'ugh what if critics actually like this one, nightmare' is rude actually

plus he has talked about writing for commercial success and not for, like, a five star review in the guardian (pls see popular abomination galway girl) - there's nothing inherently WRONG with that but it's a v different thing and at violent odds with what critics are in it for

i don't think anyone is saying he can't write a good song, but something can be popular and not very good. and quite a few of his songs are popular and not very good.

i have absolutely nothing against ed sheeran and i wish him well but this attitude of "well critics say it's shit but can 150 million people be wrong" is really annoying. yes 150 million people can be wrong! 150 million people are often wrong!

having recently come off them I wonder if part of the problem is that so many gen z and millennial daters have been on SSRIs for years and are too emotionally numb to recognise some of their behaviour as bad or a genuine healthy connection as good

★★★★★
This album is the musical equivalent of a strobe light. It is a sugar rush, the caffeine jitters, the peak of a panic attack. 10,000 gecs is chaos and it is stupid and it is brilliant
