Certainly, Biden continues to enjoy significant goodwill&affection. Some voters are even looking at gaffes through lens of electability: “he speaks from the heart. Sometimes that means you put your foot in your mouth. Isn’t that what they liked about Trump?”
I would also say though as I think the guys at 538 noted Joe Biden’s base historically gets more involved and motivated later than other elements of the Dem coalition and that may account for parts of enthusiasm gap
More like an enthusiasm chasm. Biden is far from the best candidate. He needs to stop trying to force us to choose him.
