If you're wondering why the stereotype that autism is toxic masculinity? It's a Simon Baron Cohens idea. SBC told us that autism is extreme masculinity, and it's problematic for SO MANY REASONS. Among other things, it made it harder for girls to be diagnosed.

I’m gonna tell you a secret... All those things you recommend to people with mental health issues? Those are good things. They help, if you can do them. The issue isn’t lack of ideas. Its not even depression that’s stopping us from starting yoga. It’s executive function.

It places onus on disabled people by individualizing instead of recognizing systemic/institutional basis of ableism/inaccess. It also mandates disclosure/forces outing, requiring choice b/w safety/survival vs. access. And we struggle with trauma of constant denial of access.

The true scandal here: People considered "tech diversity leaders" and role models OUTSPOKENLY denying that accessibility is a diversity issue. And the wider community not giving a damn, not holding them accountable, throwing disabled folks under the bus.

The thing that helped me most was adjusting my perception of what success looked like with EDS: tailoring my life to my condition, rather than trying to contort myself further to achieve things that only cause injury, exhaustion and acute pain
