I missed the line in Das Capital which says thou shalt not focus on the issue that is not the most important in the present moment. Also, people getting fired for their views (while not new) is not just "an online disagreement".

I agree with you that the demilitarization of police is essential and free speech. I read the letter and took away from it that our society talk about or debate anything without fear of repercussions. Hence the protests and outlandish response by law enforcement......

...The letter is correct that we need to talk to one another constructively again or else if trump gets reelected I'm afraid as hell we are then headed towards fascism and the end our country as we know it now. Some good came out of the 1960's but not nearly enough as an example.
