a lot of these tips would help PR pitches too. 99 percent of PR emails I get boil down to “mention the name of my product.” ...why?

Good point. I know it's an extremely broad question, but what do the best PR pitches you receive have in common? Are they short and to the point? Do they contextualize why the company is deserving of mention - now? What makes them stand out, even if you don't pursue the idea?

honestly, the ones that stand out most are ones related to my beat! most seem like spam about topics I’ve never covered.
