I've been talking a lot on here about the labor issues the gig economy is facing during the coronavirus outbreak, which means I've gotten a lot of requests from these companies to talk on background. A reminder of my policy on this:https://twitter.com/kateconger/status/1227241059542913025 …

unclear. one thing i think really changed everything to a heightened degree was the YouTube shooting. now much more reticence to use names since. (though long before any of this safety stuff it was commonplace, so i dont really buy safety as an argument)

One theory of going nameless is that it's not about the individual at all, so who cares what their name is – the statement is on behalf of the company, which is more important. So "spokesperson" is my default, but I don't fight it if people want to use my name.

This has probably been argued already, but shouldn't someone's name and reputation be tied to a public company comment?
