Another specific story: I visited Beijing on a work trip, and when I got there help desk dropped off a box of what, 20 masks? "It's dangerous to go alone, take these" (Ok, maybe not that wording). AQI was > 200 though, so it made sense.
I think there's a different level of expectations SV employees have vs rest of workforce in terms of employer taking care of them (probably a good thing in this case). Reported in Beijing for a former employer and was never offered a mask although AQI was very bad.
