I feel it's a bit weird reading about "TGIF being dead" from Kate Conger, as (by livetweeting it) she did more to kill it than any other non-Googler, which isn't acknowledged in the piece. (She deleted those tweets sometime in the last couple months, according to Google cache.)

Part of the challenge as I understand is the Times's editorial policy that prevents it from acknowledging when it becomes part of the story rather than an external observer...

If that’s a NYT policy, I’m not aware of it. I acknowledged what happened at the time and talked extensively about it, publicly and privately. I think I was a convenient scapegoat, but our reporting shows the founders had already started to check out of TGIF.
