Perhaps in 2028, the same question from 2012 will be asked again.
Stumbled by a thread on Reddit: "Is it theoretically possible to do object recognition with classification algorithms other than NN’s?". Just ~8 years ago you'd be more likely to find "Is it theoretically possible to do object recognition with NN’s?". That was a fun few years.

But it's a great question; I'd love to see a serious attempt to do object recognition using scaled Inductive logic programming - not because I think it'd be competitive, or even good, but because I think we'd learn a lot if it worked at all.
