(granted the existence of numpy saved the human race a gajillion times that many hours. my tweet was intended to rant about technically correct error messages that ignore very common use cases / errors in libraries, np.zeros being a common example)

Pretty sure you even tweeted this same error a few years ago...

I agree but couldn't find an issue. Why not open one (or even a PR) instead? How many developer hours do you have at your disposal? NumPy has 2 paid devs since last year, that is the totality of their funding, no industry support afaik.
-
Quansight Labs exists to help increase the number of paid devs working on the stack. We sell general support contracts and community work orders that allow direct funding of developers who can fix things. We partner with
@NumFOCUS and@anacondainc. Let me know if we can help.

I don't think it's _that_ weird. Putting parens around (5,5) doesn't tuple much like putting parens around 5+5 doesn't tuple.

np.random.rand(3,2) that one works however
-
Yes. This. np.random.rand(d1, d2...) But np.zeros((d1,d2...)) Super annoying.

Not as annoying as when you write 'exit' from the python console and they write, 'type exit() to quit'. You clearly knew my intentions...
