Well one problem is that the verified tick often helps distinguish channels from imposter versions of them, especially in the comment section where you can't see their sub and video count unless you actually click on their name and go to the channel.

Theres also the issue that come creators work for YEARS constantly grinding to get verified, so whether the check is/isnt what they define themselves as, it's like getting a punch to the face.

Being verified greatly helps getting sponsors because they know it's your real channel, or if you're a review channel it helps get those pre-launch products to review.
