if your goal is to get into industry...
1) it's ok to be self-taught. there's no one path to design, and you don't HAVE to go to design school. I didn't! (I got in for bachelors and masters, but I chose not to go). no hate to those who do-- i seriously was considering going!

2) craft matters! but I believe that youtube/skillshare can help you learn about design fundamentals like type, grids, etc. but don't learn in isolation-- crit with others! crit with your design teammates or clubmates! learn from your users!

3) honestly though, most of my learning was on the job, and that was okay. i owe it to the people who went out of their way to mentor me early on, and they helped me learn SO much when I was early on in my career. Tomaz

4) ... there's so many more ppl but i couldn't possibly tag them all. but hey, let's not gatekeep design. so many of the people I learned so much from did not go to dschool. but what really stood out among all the folks I learned a ton from was that they were constantly learning.

5) my first project (and the one that got me my first full time job ) was one where I saw a problem in the way my peers were splitting bills, and I worked on a split the bill addition to Venmo. I basically interviewed my peers and made them usability test my design.
