I really think if we could fix the “mistrust of experts” we could go a long way..... trying to play my part with education and outreach. :)

This is at 1,000 RTs, 200k impressions. It definitely struck a nerve. How can we use this momentum to make science more accessible? Let’s work together to remove obstacles and gatekeepers. Let’s do more outreach & demonstrate that people of all types & origins can do science.

The 2017 eclipse had a maximum duration of totality of two minutes and 40 seconds. The 2024 eclipse will have a maximum duration of *FOUR* minutes and 27 seconds in the U.S. Is it too early to get excited yet?

Reminds me of the quote by Stephen Jay Gould that I put up on my office wall: “I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.”

I remember giving a talk and only the boys raised their hands and wanted to be Astronauts. I asked the girls why and they said that I said it was the Manned Space Program. That day my language changed and it became the Human Space Program. Language and TY🚀

I was turned down for a NASA internship 4 times. I was so frustrated that I decided to call and speak to someone to get feedback on my application. I was offered a position over the phone.
