Okay friends, do me a favor: If we are hanging out & doing something even remotely interesting, can you remind me to take a picture? I've come to the conclusion that I tend to be more grateful / happier when I actively document the good in my life, but I have the memory of a fly.

And for a brief moment in time, I saw the best of humanity coalesce, rallying around this man and his dog against someone who was harassing him. in complete solidarity, with one voice: This. Will. Not. Stand.

You will fight tooth and nail for this guy (who you've never met before and will likely never see again) to keep his service dog on the bus or so help me.

It's like, you are sitting here, not so much thinking about your feelings about service dogs, and then a woman begins yelling about it and all of a sudden, this man and his right to have a service dog all of a sudden becomes the most important issue to you ever.

The coolest part though was that everyone on the bus (from the students going to class, to the businesspeople going to work, to the low-economic level individuals, etc.) immediately stood up for this man and some got in full on arguments with this woman.

The man calmly explained that he had several conditions that qualified him for a service animal and that it is his legal right to be on the bus with him, and that given her emotional state might herself be aided with the support of an animal companion (bam, mic drop!)

This woman who was extremely angry, ranty and, honestly, probably not all there mentally, starts yelling at this guy because "why does he have a dog?! He doesn't LOOK disabled! etc. etc. etc. (she also ranted about other things, but this was her main outrage at the moment).

There was a man who had an assistance dog (a very good boy, by the way), who was sitting in the handicapped section with his dog (totally not disturbing anyone, just laying there) at his feet.

Listening to about being on the subway and it reminded of a similar experience of solidarity when riding the bus here in Austin.

These 6 days between Christmas and New Year's is the only time of year you should strive to do absolutely fucking nothing. Make zero progress. Take all the time off. Go on vacation from your vacation. Be the least impressive version of yourself. Transform into a couch.

The GOP had control of the House, Senate, AND the Presidency + STILL couldn’t keep gov open. That ineptitude means 800k fed workers won’t get paychecks, and have to negotiate with landlords + creditors over the holidays. This isn’t how you treat people.

I read a couple of years ago saying that ignoring politics is a luxury in liberal democracies. It's stuck with me as I worry, every hour, about politics now.

Can we all agree that seeing the President tweet "use the nuclear option" isn't good for the world's cardiac health?
