You all seem to be arguing a different point than he is making. Yes, the past is what guides us to make better decisions in the future. Living in the hate of the past, denies you a happy future, and only makes you blame the past for an unhappy now. No growth.

Explain! What do you mean by living in the hate of the past? If the past and the present resemble similar hate but in a different form are you living in hate or the harsh truth!?
-
My point exactly. Thank you. It's 2018 no citizen in this country through their own initiative has less chance to succeed than any other. Any person who believes otherwise or worse yet teaches a child to belive otherwise, is an abuser, living in the past.
-
If you truly believe this you have not analyzed education policy, been in a classroom, reviewed lending practices or zoning structures! Hell, Wells Fargo just received a 1 billion fine for their discriminatory practices. What world do y'all live in?! Fantasyland
-
And thank God for the laws that bring these people to justice It is what make this get better daily not worse. And we must always fight it, but to use these examples as the reason "We can not succeed" is defetist. As for schools, who runs those inner city schools? Kids first!
-
It’s funny that when she mentioned education, you automatically assumed “inner city” schools. Prime example
-
And believe it or not, there are white children in iner city schools as well. This thread is about what do all of us do to raise all children up. I have not been offensive in any way. Nor do ever intend to. This is twitter, my thoughts are deeper than 240 key strokes, sorry

Forgetting history dooms us to repeat it, you know that Kanye

The problem with being the genius voice of a generation is you think every thought you have must be that

It’s his platform to speak his truth. There’s no problem with anything. If you see a problem that’s within you, you don’t have to follow.
-
why the fuck would I deny myself Kanye's unfiltered thoughts?
-

I kinda agree but isn't there also a saying about those who forget the past are doomed to repeating it? Or something like that?

-
One should certainly learn from the past, but "constantly" is the first word and key of the phrase here.
