I cleaned up part 4 of my `kubernaughty` IO documentation - This is where I demonstrate a `helm install X` on a 5 node cluster is sufficient to trigger PLEG lifecycle errors and orphaned sandboxes: In there you'll find the log lines, data from BPF, etc

And the benefits of well-tested and trusted licenses far outweighs the indirect harms via the supply chain for these projects. By turning this into an issue without nuance you damage the credibility of the community as a whole. Please don't.

Are all of those supply chains built on suffering and misery? Yes, and it's a problem. But going after every iPhone owner or Gap wearer is both unproductive and missing the forest for the trees. Everything in the modern, global, interconnected world has moral hazards.

You know that guy at the party that won't stop about how it's morally wrong to have an iPhone or sneakers or jeans or diamonds or whatever supply chain has recently been shown to be terrible? You sound like that guy. Don't be that guy.

I'm not going to pull any false equivalency shit, it's not even in the same galaxy as things ICE does, but it's still abusive towards these projects and their maintainers. And that's not okay just because you have a righteous goal.

To "name and shame" projects used for bad ends but that are clearly in no way directed at those ends or at the bad actors using them is not just ethically bullshit, it's abuse of a position of power in our community.

I don't normally get into this stuff on public Twitter but I am mad so here goes: Yes supply chain ethics is an important thing to think about and discuss as a culture. No, it's not okay or helpful to center it in the current software ethics discussion.

let's say you're a tech worker in SF unhappy about Palantir and you decide on "name and shame" as a strategy. who do you name and shame? - random unpaid volunteers maintaining such critical OSS as "is-odd" - Palantir employees, of which there is literally a list you can get

Prometheus is pretty good (shoutout to for telling me this 5 years ago) but Thanos is almost confusingly well architected. It's a geo-distributed data processing layer and there's no random Kafka, or surprise 4 copies of Redis, or custom proxy formats. How did this happen?
