    This paper is being widely shared in support of education in raising IQ. It is an important paper. In this thread I will try to provide some different perspectives. This is the kind of finding that almost everyone will uncritically use in support of education.

    Our meta-analysis ( and me) is now published in Psychological Science! How much does education raise intelligence? Answer: somewhere between 1 & 5 IQ points for one added year. Lots of discussion of what this means in the paper:

    There are some things you can’t learn in books. But if you need a book, Dangerous Personalities by is a good place to start).

    Your judge of character is shit unless you've spent time amongst the shit. You can't really know a monster--especially one is disguise--if you haven't lived with them, hunted them, or been one yourself.

    Elon Musk is absolutely right about this. Journalistic innumeracy is damaging in many ways, and editors should put an end to it.

    It’s super messed up that a Tesla crash resulting in a broken ankle is front page news and the ~40,000 people who died in US auto accidents alone in past year get almost no coverage
