News — After a series of messaging missteps, CDC Director Dr. Walensky started media training last fall and has been meeting privately with the consultant Mandy Grunwald since. Today Walensky will hold CDC's first independent briefing since last summer.https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/07/politics/rochelle-walensky-cdc-communications-covid-19/index.html …

As @JDiamond1, @Kevinliptakcnn and I report, Walensky decided abruptly this week to take questions herself "head on." More on the internal dynamics at play on how the CDC changes and updates its guidance here:https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/07/politics/rochelle-walensky-cdc-communications-covid-19/index.html …

I get "media training" is largely about how to be a good communicator. But It has this kind of dystopic feel to it where you have to teach honest, science-minded people how to manipulate the masses because that's the only way they'll listen.

Disagree—some people just aren’t good communicators and they can thereby unintentionally miscommunicate. Nothing wrong with getting a little help.

Or, she could just resign and hand the job over to someone with experience, instead of trying to learn at our expense.

You know there is a problem when they share guidelines that are based on supply and demand of materials.

Good to hear. Heard this morning that we should likely change our national strategy to being one that encompasses us living with Covid now and in the future. I think I buy into that way forward.

I don't buy into anything that involves Rochelle Walensky.

President Biden and Rochelle Walensky have bungled this COVID response. They both are disgraceful. COVID is running rampant in this country yet both can only say get vaccinated I am vaccinated but I'm still at risk to get this. We need mitigation.

Republican COVIDIOTS and Antivaxer idiots are the culprit... Biden could not have done more... Anti-science Republicans and Trump are to blame...
