Most of SFans pro-Chesa or not will agree that long sentences for petty crimes or drug possessions are completely unjustified. What we see happening over and over again (the stabbing yesterday is another example) is that real violent criminals are not in jail where they belong.

Exactly because they were not charged or got too lenient sentences they repeat it again. And when you talk about SF crime numbers being better than other cities, don't you think it has something to do with fewer charges by the DA office vs. fewer crimes committed?
