Here's a thread on what conspired in the SF Tech Elite vs DA thread for those that missed it.
Lots of people joined. At one point over 3000. Issues were numerous but the focus was on Crime and taking specific incidents. @NancyTungSF who ran for DA and subsequently lost to @chesaboudin came up on the show and eloquently put point forward and addressed questions.

Michelle then adds Chesa to the discussion and things get heated. Chesa might have been a personal friend to Michelle or wanted to address issues. Let's go with the best intention.

Chesa enters a room against a political opponent and two adversial tech questioners, fields questions but launches into an excellent soliloquy about the problems SF faces and why it's hard for him to be effective.
Show this thread -
Given best intentions, I believe Chesa was saying that antiquated systems, tons of red tape, antiquated procedures are large problems SF faces. In effect saying I'm trying but it's not just me why SF is broken.

He's been at the position for 1 year and a few months. He is excellent at putting points forward. Room goes silent while he speaks. But then a few points are raised by
@micsolana and@zebulgar as well as@NancyTungSF on where he personally failed and could have done better.Show this thread -
He doesn't address it directly but still addresses two or three cases (and talks about conditions surrounding the cases) while explaining like a lawyer would why these cases are complicated and its not an easy judgement.
Show this thread -
It's at this point that opinions turn massively (as well as all the Twitter threads popup) where everyone starts saying Chesa is running from issues and is a smooth talker but not effective.
Show this thread -
Balaji enters the discussion, takes a specific case on how a citizen reported being sexually assaulted and in quotes the attacker says "the police won't do anything". He asks Chesa how would you have addressed this? Is the person guilty. Chesa doesn't directly reply.
Show this thread -
Another turning point where it seems like evasion is a theme and maybe it's a public forum so backlash would be swift hence Chesa has to be a diplomat? It's hard to tell but given the benefit of the doubt to both sides.
Show this thread -
Hard questions were asked, satisfactory answers weren't received.
Show this thread -
The moderators struggle to field many hands being raised and a lot of people who want to join the discussion. Chesa exits after that question and claims Nancy is speculative. Nancy stays in the discussion to clarify that.
Show this thread -
The discussion continues but everyone's unhappy the questions and a "way forward" in this extremely detailed but difficult lay of the land isn't clear.
Show this thread -
An important oversight but not intended was not having all communities participate, especially the Black community who are integral to this discussion.

Another clubhouse group popups which is titled, "The future of SF really means make SF more white". Powerful discussions are being held there about how the front line workers and people who do a lot of the work day to day weren't invited to talk and express issues.

Issues regarding safety for everyone not just tech/white people, empathy to the homeless, cops helping and working with kids in youth detention centers, medical workers are all important issues that could have been discussed in the original room.

and here's my opinion:- The structure of the first club house was loosely defined, the speakers weren't prepared for the way the events would unfold, I can't speak on their behalf but I will assume the best intention was to help address and fix SF not just cater to their needs.

some conclusions - Voting the right people in. - It isn't just tech people that have problems - It requires coordinated planning. Two important questions are, "Where does the buck stop?" "How can it be effective?

That's vast generalizations but there were many many issues and highlights brought up. It's hard to put all of it (this thread is paraphrased too).

Sachin, btw, runs
@growsf that wants to build SF and fix a lot of the problems. They address many issues.Show this thread -
Unfortunately I reached thread limit, but here's more in the third room discussion. Marc questions the data being fed into the Citizen app that Sachin recommends. He says if the systems are antiquated (Chesa mentions using DOS and windows etc in data and no data guy)
Show this thread -
Sachin agrees that's a valid point and that's one of the things he's building towards which is getting better Data into the system.
Show this thread -
A lot of this is paraphrased and not verbatim. However I tried to show points that I understood from both sides.

Twitter threads are broken but I would love to see a panel with a lot more voices like
@pmarca,@balajis,@chesaboudin,@EricaJoy,@agarwal,@NancyTungSF@kimmaicutler@DNas (and other relevant people you think should be there) with better moderation facilities@pdavisonShow this thread
