Prof. Miyashiro called out the racism and colonial violence at ISAS Hawaii and discussed the racist history of the term “Anglo-Saxon.” He started this conversation at personal risk and faced massive pushback and anger from white people now praising this conversation.

He returned to ISAS ABQ this summer to give a talk explaining the racist history of the term, yet hardly anybody is mentioning his name, other people like Karen Jolly, who have done so to center themselves and rewrite their own histories of opposition to his critique.

This thread articulates very well my feelings as I process why I'm so annoyed at some senior and mid-career scholars as history is rewritten before our eyes. Reinventing oneself and altering perspectives is fine but cite those who took the risk. They are still paying for it.
