Jessie Frazelle added,
I think it's tried and tested, competitive nature of commercial sector means they can't produce projects like FOSS, if the could peeps probably wouldn't be making FOSS. Ask yourself if Linux didn't exist would #Microsoft be creating it?
It's a foundation not a FANG the salaries are outrageous
Lol, look at the exec salaries of orgs like United Way etc, next time they to a drive at work. ;) Same thing.
Well I’m holding them accountable to either do things that make them deserve that or they should make less
From my personal experience of working inside large corporations, is that the corporation itself, though influenced by the employee's, has it's own agenda than the sum of it's employees
Coming back to this point, sure @linuxfoundation could pay their contributors more, but this is also a limitation then directly on who can be fairly compensated for their contributions. The reality is there are too many to fairly compensate, and its successful because of that.
Pretty sure if it was just about the amount of money the Linux Foundation could remunerate FOSS devs it wouldn't be enough to be of substantial interest, there are other forms of compensation in life
My crazy prediction is that the Linux Foundation is not just a foundation on its own but will become a model for people to build out when they need a way to make software not completely controlled by profit motives and bloated fake corporate cultures.
