THE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO RISE is now available. Chronicles how Trump came to power and what fueled his ugly movement

  2. I don’t care that the bombs were poorly made. That they were intercepted. I care about what would happen if they weren’t. I care about an environment where the president callously inspires people to intimidate and murder his opponents.

  3. Seriously. Donald Trump is disgusting. Whatever humanity and basic decency he may have had evaporated decades ago.

  4. Without fail he will do the wrong thing literally every time and in every situation. Without. Fail.

  5. See something say something didn't work with the bomber because there's so much violent rhetoric and so many memes insinuating violence that you would never get anything done if you reported everything you saw.

  6. Donald Trump inspired a man to try and assassinate the leadership of the Democratic Party and a news organization he called the enemy of the people. He's not just spouting violent rhetoric, he's creating violence.

  7. America is extraordinarily bad at losing the context of the moment. We frame white murderers as "lone nuts" and look for cultural conclusions with everyone else. This is a giant symptom of a giant problem. People will die if we just shrug and look away. 9/9

  8. This bombing attempt, this assassination attempt, this attempted purge, isn't the beginning and it isn't going to be the end. If we just pretend this is an ill person doing irrational things instead of the symptom it obviously is...my god, I can't imagine where we're going 8/

  9. The cost of the Republican Party and Donald Trump using fear and division to score political points is that the idea of a free society is being endangered because these people are being activated by the national narrative and violent rhetoric. 7/

  10. Listen, I'm not a big figure in all this. I'm a writer. But you would not believe the BIZARRE stuff I get sent on a daily basis. I'm talking in the mail, in my email, the class I get, the threats that are made against me. Our country is absolutely soaked in this right now. 6/

  11. We talk about these "lone wolves" like Dylann Roof and Timothy McVeigh, but they're inspired by narratives about loss of freedom, racist uprisings, internal wars in which they're the footsoldiers. Many, many have died already. More will die if this strategy continues. 5/

  12. When they traffic in conspiracy theories, ideas that Soros is bankrolling an effort to destroy the country and Clinton and Obama are all in on it, this is what happens. You inspire people to take matters into their own hands. We've seen this time and again. 4/

  13. Trump and the GOP have framed this political moment as a do or die situation. According to their narrative, Democrats are actively working against the country and betraying it every single day. It's a war narrative, and they know full and well the cost of that business is this 3/

  14. Obviously this person's unwell. But we have to look at where this stuff comes from. Our current political environment is inspiring people like this, and it's because Trump and the Republican Party are stoking paranoia and violent feelings. 2/

  15. With a suspect under arrest in the bombing case, we're just a few minutes from this whole thing being painted over as a "lone nut" situation and the context being completely and utterly lost. 1/

  16. We either dive headlong into the abyss or say enough. The very concept of a free society is at risk. We address this like the existential crisis it is or else our future is going to be spent in darkness. That’s not dramatic, it’s the truth.

  17. There is an organized, terroristic attempt to assasinate critics of the President of the United States and the president refuses to lead or do anything except blame the victims. This isn’t a news story, it’s a moment where America has to draw a line or it’s all over.

  18. Stop expecting him to change. This is who Donald Trump is. A narcissistic, self-pitying joke with no capacity to do the right thing. He won’t stop, even as people are being targeted for assasination. He will literally bring everything down if you let him.

Our media isn’t going to solve this crisis, they’ve spent decades normalizing the perversion of our system. Our politicians aren’t going to fix it, they’ve created it and have continually profited from it. We have to retake power. We have to vote and work like never before.

There was a literal and organized attempt to assasinate critics of the president of the United States of America and conservative media is fine with spreading the lie that it was a false flag operation.

Donald Trump’s delusion, total lack of introspection and moral clarity is astounding. He’s going to use an attempted assasination purge of his opponents to try and score political points.
