Wont this drive up lower priced homes? We would be way better served with a Home buyers savings plan program similar to RESP's for people to pay into and get contributions based on income and continuous employment

Yep, it'll make housing more affordable for a little while - a very short, tiny little while. And then boom the market reacts to the new demand and now all housing has gone up. Wonderful.

Still will never be able to afford a home that starts at a minimum $500,000. I am disabled and unable to work, my wife manages a restaurant. Our income is $40k at the best of times. So tell us how lowering a payment helps us dream of owning a home? Can barely afford our rent.

Ever hear of renting? Not everyone needs to own a home, and when they can afford one not everyone needs to buy a home in downtown Toronto, Vancouver or other expensive cities etc... Not sure why Tax payers need to pay for another house
