I do not care whether I am liked, followed, paid, crowdfunded, donated to, or understood. I don’t even need to be listened to. I just need to speak. Freely. Now. Carefully. Very. Honestly. Fully. Because it’s the right thing. And that is what this is.

Two things: 1. “Heartland” translates to white. Pete knows this. 2. Using this term implies other parts of the country DON’T have heart, which is just mean.

Also: talk to some of your staffers of color. They will explain what the ‘Real America/heartland’ stuff sounds like to them. Every American is a Real American. Living in the heartland doesn’t make your values better, your work harder, your integrity deeper.

Congrats to Assistant Professor on being selected for a Microsoft Investigator Fellowship! The fellowship will fund her research to assess the strength of non-modifiable and modifiable patient-specific factors to predict risk for adverse health outcomes.

The predictions formed by polygenic scores do not reflect something "innate" to an individual, but merely reflect sources of variation within a society. If that society is unfair that unfairness may be baked into polygenic scores.

A really daft paragraph. Imagine society discriminates against (say) short people. Then as height has a genetic basis, so will discrimination, and so discrimination will built into PGS of traits affected by discrimination.

Actually, I am these women's worst nightmare. Because... They are 5 times more likely to meet me, and my scalpel, because they have been shot than women who live in a home without a gun. The truth may only hurt some of the time, but getting shot hurts all of the time.

IQ doesn't test intelligence; it tests memory, vocab, geometry, arithmetic, and speed. If you're content to reduce "intelligence" to those axes, or make circular arguments that the longest-established tests are the most reproducible, you might not be that intelligent yourself?
