    If credibility has any real oomph in IR it’s showing up here for sure. Note though that it isn’t as it’s usually framed: Trump’s *belligerence* has damaged US credibility with Iran. They don’t trust that we can keep to it & they’re probably right.

    Biden’s diplomacy on Iran has been abysmal, largely stemming from their stubborn misapprehension that things could move forward without up-front concessions. Except going back to the status quo ante after Trump’s betrayal/aggression shouldn’t be considered a concession.
