No but they are a faceless corporation and will act rationally by shuttering stores. They have no obligation to continue operating at a loss. It's the security guards and cashiers that lose out. In the case of theft one group benefits at the expense of another.

Walgreens makes a billion dollars in profits (and made even more hosing people through soaking the gov on covid shot payments) and a petty theft will make them pull out of what is assumingly high value street property? Incredible.

They have 20+ year leases but do not own the property. And yes they do close underperforming stores.https://www.commercialsearch.com/news/gauging-the-impact-of-200-store-closures/ …

Lmao this article even says everyone expected it beyond the acquisition term, that landlords are being paid rent through term, and they are also closing stores that are now overlapping due to the 4 billion dollar acquisition. Did you even read it?

I'm simply making the point that store closures do occur for business reasons all the time.

And your original point about them closing it due to crime is hilarious and you should feel bad for finding an article saying they close stores for biz reasons instead!

I'll definitely read the article. Thanks for sharing. I left SF due to the conditions after living in SF and Oakland for a few years and the Bay Area for 10. I'm not sure if you have lived there as well but it feels lawless and unlivable in certain areas.
