Yeah for 6 months... That's why I'm surprised another release without that being merged.

Yeah... What do you think about true strong encapsulation via WeakMaps? I've had PRs against lit-html replacing WeakMaps with property access because it's about 1000x faster, but it doesn't seem to show up on benchmarks. Maybe pervasively across an app it would though?
