I read the A's stadium bill. A few observations:
- Passing this bill without the lease is insane. It leaves the door open for ripoff schemes.
- Homelessness fund is pure PR nonsense. It is literally on the bottom line of how funds are spent, below one that can be infinity. 1/4
All of Las Vegas should read this. HORRIBLE deal for NV. Of note: it includes a "state-of-the-art" clause, which obliges NV to fund unspecified future stadium upgrades—or else. This is the same clause Stan Kroenke used to steal the Rams away from St. Louis
Met Butch Ford as he took the tragic case of Nia Wilson and brought her killer to justice; hard to read his run down on Madame DA Pamela Price's office.
The Alameda County DA's office lost another veteran prosecutor. Butch Ford resigned today, telling DA Pamela Price, "Your administration has attempted to silence members of this once proud office in order to hide your transgressions like a thief in the night." His full letter.
I’m a fan of ranked choice voting but it’s clear who loses their voice when we’ve got bad ballot design, changing terms (do we rank top 3 or top 5?) and poor public education campaigns.
Alameda County Ranked Choice Voting error rates by precinct in the November 2022 Oakland Mayoral election. The percentage of voters who made at least one of the following errors is shown in parentheses: overvoting, voting for the same candidate twice, or skipping a ranking.
"No location is specified in the deal as it currently stands"... meaning that plans to build at the Tropicana site could change. https://8newsnow.com/sports/local-sports/las-vegas-as/as-stadium-deal-180-million-funding-from-state-120-million-from-clark-county/…
#NEW: A man who volunteered for Pamela Price’s DA campaign after being acquitted of murder is now charged with shooting a man outside an Oakland bar. The complaint was filed by an outgoing DDA who recently blasted Price in her resignation letter:
There's a false — and frankly, dangerous and hurtful — assumption going around that this ongoing strike is meant to help Black and brown students. It’s not. That’s ridiculous. This strike is proving exactly the opposite. 🧵(thread)
SPOTTED! The Steller sea lion, a rare endangered species, was found chilling on K-dock this morning! The Steller sea lion is the largest of the Otariidae family which includes both sea lions and seals. You can distinguish him by his light-colored fur and large build. (1/2)
"There were weirdos in newsrooms, and fabulous role models occasionally, and the spirit of being part of a motley entourage. Now, it’s just you and the little cursor on your screen.” via
We're aware that in its conspiracy to kneecap the Warriors' dynasty, the NBA has scheduled Friday's Game 6 for 5:00 pm in hopes fans will arrive late.
Not on our watch. We're working on an updated itinerary for reserved service to @ChaseCenter. More info soon. #GoldBlooded
A developer wants to build a 55-story residential skyscraper overlooking Ocean Beach and the S.F. Zoo on the city’s westside, drawing opposition from city officials.
Now we have an idea of what the proposed condo tower would look like.

Hey it’s Oakland Athletics #OpeningDay ! Today can be about pomp, circumstance and excitement. After that, the only thing that truly matters is whether or not the A’s are staying in Oakland. The results this season mean virtually nothing in comparison.
Oakland High has won CIF D3 state title in boys hoops.
Wildcats topped Buena of Ventura, 59-43.
1st-ever CIF state title for the very, very old public school.
Money Williams 22 pts.

out of the elevator for **simply doing her job and asking questions.** Elected officials ran for office knowing they would be in the public eye. Accountability is part of that.
WATCH: California Assemblymember Mia Bonta refuses to answer questions, won't say if she'll recuse herself from overseeing her husband, Attorney General Rob Bonta's budget:
"There is no violation of ethical rules in my holding this position."
Oakland has the second most-improved streets in the Bay Area over the last three years: "the city’s single-year score jumped nine points to 58 last year from just 49 (poor) in 2020" AND it was done by prioritizing low-income neighborhoods
Numerous lightning strikes off our coast tonight. Will be watching to see if any thunderstorms form early in the morning on Tuesday across our region. Might get woken up by some thunder. Since everything is so wet no fear of fires from lightning strikes thankfully.
A Proclamation of Local Emergency for Oakland has been issued for emergency responses to address public safety, transportation, public works, procurement of equipment, materials and/or the activation of emergency workers on an expedited basis.
This is crazy. They don’t say if other races impacted by the same “vendor error”? Bay Area county admits tallying error in ranked-choice voting, flips one result
when SFPD officer Geary was ordered to stop using a ventriloquist dummy while on patrol, he collected signatures for a ballot measure to allow Brendan O’Smarty to remain on the force.
