The difference between them and us is humanity

Who is “them” and who is “us”? I’m a Democrat, and I agree the policy is cruel, but the law has been in place & used by prior admins, without a similar outcry. Why are protests coming now, when Americans have been unjustly imprisoning poor/people of color since US inception?

Two things: 1) you’re right that there have been terrible policies enacted before. This country has a long history of abusing and improsoning POC.

2) the policy of separating children from their parents at the border is new, it was not used before. So why are you opposing people who realize that these policies are awful and want to change them?

Those are your words, I’m not opposing anyone; I said: I agree the policy is cruel. What I’m opposed to is the notion that ripping children from their parents hasn’t occurred before. I’m also opposed to the notion that I must agree lock step, in order to be a Democrat.

Oh, I agree with you there. This country’s foundation was built on slavery and forced separation. But this border policy is new. I am not here to tell you how to be a Democrat.

We agree, that’s good. I’m not trying to tell you how to be a Democrat. But I have been advocating for parents who’ve lost their children to DHS/CWS and many of them also suffer from a lack of due process and PTSD; their stories never get told and their causes get ignored
