Weird criticism, b/c I’m the guy saying the War Powers Resolution is unnecessary. Without the WPR, the prez still can’t take offensive action without congressional approval thanks to our Constitution. Point of thread was to critique those who claim it does something it does not.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Our military doesn’t want to be stuck in these endless and worthless wars. Supporting the military doesn’t = supporting endless unconstitutional wars.

I am here in support of a brilliant young student who has taken a very serious interest in Constitutional law and its applications, as well as the rights it gives us as citizens. @justinamash is a great man. Dont get me wrong. Very well versed. But this needed to be said.

You're either uninformed or actively choosing to ignore the Foumders' intent. Madison wrote "The executive branch is the branch most prone to war. Therefore, we have with studied care vested that authority into the legislature"

The good thing about this debate is this allows Kyle to learn in real time how conduct himself and it's not bad. This is exactly what the right needs. Kudos to Justin and Kyle.

As much as the constitutionality and legality are of concern, more concerning to me is whether it would it be right or justifiable to do even with Congressional authority. Can you speak to that Congressman? I would greatly appreciate your insight, as I imagine would everyone.

Here to dispute this wild claim. Presidential authority allows President/Commander in Chief to direct armed forces with or without a declaration of war. Article 2, Section 2. Congressional control is only over appropriation and provision

But most notably? 09/11/2001 AUMF Is still in effect. Chemical weapons attack on Syrian civilians, even by the agency of their own State, has been considered a terrorist attack by most members of the international community. Hence the UK/US/France joint attack.

We are already in Syria bombing targets everyday, doing much more damage than these strikes will do. The WPR is a mute point, @potus was given the power from Congress already through 2001 AUMF, albeit sketchy.pic.twitter.com/KvTpks815o
