Slavery was and is horrific. But in the 1700 no land owner would have run an operation without slaves. He was the largest land owner in Virginia. Context tend to be important.

There is no context that make slavery acceptable.

I don't say that slavery is acceptable. Point is that to impugn Washington's legacy and personal sacrifices because he owned slaves, as everybody else in his position, is misguided
