I predict @justinamash, who voted for tax cuts, will vote against spending increase and then blame everyone else for increased debt. That’s like taking a pay cut when you know your spouse plans to buy a new car and book several trips.

And so is the amount of additional spending proposed. Again, in my opinion the responsible path forward is no to tax cuts or more spending unless paid for.

And, even if we use your analogy, wouldn’t it be wrong for your spouse to buy a new car and book several trips after taking a pay cut? Your analogy applies both ways.

Greatly appreciate the conversation and your reply. My point is, I think it is wrong to cut taxes when the economy is doing well without reducing spending, or to increase spending if it is not paid for. I would vote no for both tax cut and spending increase without balance.

While I appreciate the thought isn’t some government spending neccessary this making your chart disingenuous at best and the time for discussion about spending cuts should have come at the same time we discuss tax cuts. I don’t remember that conversation from you.

Not all federal spending is good/bad. And not all tax cuts are good/bad. I do, however, support lower spending and lower taxes overall, and I spoke frequently about the need to cut both. We have way higher revenues than necessary to run an appropriately sized federal government.

You hypocrites are supposed to be the party of Fiscal responsibility. For eight years, you vilified the Democrats for raising the National Debt. You get power and raise the National Debt and budget deficit. You are a party that stands for nothing.
-
I agree. I'm hoping the Corp. Tax cut will keep, and get the Economy growing enough to bring in more Revenue to the Govt. then was projected. They projected the deficit with 1.8% growth. I think the growth will surpass that. I'm Libertarian, so I like a Balanced Budget.

Voting for the Tax Reform bill showed that you have ZERO concern for fiscal responsibility and ONLY concern to show your loyalty to Trump. Stop pretending like you are on some mighty crusade for sane taxation and spending, we can all see who you pledge fealty to.

You are comparing total spending to the change in tax rates. That’s an inapt comparison if I’ve ever seen one. I say that as someone who strongly supports your goal for a balanced budget.

Bottom line. The tax cuts raise the National debt.

You should be comparing the deficit though and not spending. The comparison isn't appropriate without this context.

And yet, we couldn't pay for the spending we already had when you voted for the tax cut bill.

I believe your analogy is false. Try comparing the tax cut to the deficit instead.

Is the increased spending tied to the wreckless travel expense used by the admin? Still wonder how removing willing tax payers and needed labor pool to help support ssd and medicare is supported?
