The U.S. government is now more than $20 trillion in debt. We closed fiscal year 2017 with a $666 billion deficit—the second highest annual deficit of the last five years and a figure unheard of before the Obama stimulus. https://www.facebook.com/justinamash/posts/1672100376162695 …

In the coming weeks, it’s expected that both parties will vote to spend hundreds of billions of dollars more over the next two years, increasing spending by the largest amount since President Obama’s first term. These spending levels are unsustainable.

The success of this Congress in “building a safe, strong, and proud America” will depend not on how “well” Republicans and Democrats choose to overspend, but on whether they can resist the urge to do so.

passing a tax bill that adds 1 trillion dollars to the debt wasn't smart, was it

Um...It was. The federal govt doesn't have a revenue problem (it collected a record amount of taxes last month), it has a spending problem. You do know it's possible to be for less taxes and less spending, right?

Um…you know those cuts were included in the CBO estimate and it still came out to $1.6T of additional debt, right?

You could tax the top 1% at 100% of their income, and it still wouldn't be enough to cover the debt. Spending is the problem.

...and the budget doesn’t reduce spending enough to offset the tax cuts. so it was a shitty budget that adds to the deficit.

That's the whole point of Amash's post! Cut spending! Glad you agree with him.

so he voted to cut taxes and increase the deficit despite knowing that the incoming spending cuts weren’t going to balance, and how he’s a hero for saying the budget doesn’t balance. FFS

Again, you do know its possible to be for tax AND spending cuts right? Amash favors both. If it really bothers you, nothing's stopping you from paying more tax so Trump & his cronies can go on bombing civilians, spying on citizens & continuing the failed war on drugs

Disappointing you appear to put the blame on Obama for deficit when you know much better. He inherited 2 wars, worst recession since the Great Depression & an accelerating fight against Isis. End the eternal wars; scale back military; don’t give our Treasury to the rich!

Republicans are to blame for this, and yet you remarkably fail to mention the word "Republican" once in your 400 word diatribe. Impressive!
