.@justinamash is one of those people I just do not get. 90% of time he's great, but every so often he has absolute betrayals like this

Okay, but I would argue that ALL transgender surgery is elective. So the fact that you keep using that word scares me.
-
It is clearly not true that "all" such surgery would be elective. Some people are born intersex, for example.
-
That's not transgender though. Intersex and transgender is not the same thing. What you are doing is inviting people who don't want 1/
-
An intersex person can have transgender issues.
-
One is clearly a physical problem, and one is mental. I feel your job and Mattis' is to make the military stronger, not Social justice.
-
And you are EXACTLY right... Comparing intersex to the mental issue of transgender is a gross false equivalence

Seems to me like there are folks who think it would be worth it to spend four years in the military to receive free transgender surgery.
-
except, well, it would be much easier to get blue cross and blue shield or the countless other insurance companies that cover it.
-
Cite the medical coverage that covers it 100% for life.
-
for free..while you get paid.
-
I was in the military, my unit knew and didn't have a problem with it, I am a vet, and blue cross and blue shield is paying for my surgery.
-
I didn't know they covered it. I was in the military right when don't ask, don't tell was implemented. Definitely no talk of the surgery.
-
people know, and when I became friends with people i told them (prior to dont ask dont tell) people are more accepting than most believe
-
Yeah, when I was in I didn't know anyone who was out. Wouldn't have mattered to me, but I'm sure it would have to some folks.

I had male providers tell me to my face they still didn't understand women yet our providers understand transgenders enough for surgery?

Took mil Drs 8 years to diagnose my AI disease. Some called me a hypochondriac. -
10 years no glasses. Possible botched epidural during childbirth, birth control issues, misdiagnosed from inexperience of our issues.
-
I'm not knocking trans. I'm not understanding how their care can be, when we fully have been taken care of. Each branch dealt with MST.
-
I've said the same thing. I also think the transition surgery requires them being non-deployable. Somebody has to pick up that slack.
-
It's a tactic I know some lgb and females use to use to get out of going.
-
Yes, horrible. Some amazing women who served, but then some would get pregnant every time a deployment came up.
-
I did get out myself on a pregnancy chapter. But while I was deciding, I had 2 tours under my belt already.
