I wish we could sit liberals and civil libertarians down and get a list of agreements and just take this stuff on.

Just need a venue to form a progressive-libertarian-constitutional-conservative alliance against authoritarianism
-
So let's brainstorm-- what would that be? And what specific issues could we team up on, even if we disagree elsewhere?
-
1/ (1) reason/science/empiricism—objective reality exists and policies should be based on it, not feelz.
-
1/(2) we can disagree on inferences and prescriptions but all arguments should be based on a common factual core
-
2/(1) constitutional representative democracy & rule of law rather than the whims of would-be autocrats
-
arguments should be resolved through civil debate and ultimately, the ballot box—subject to constitutional limits
-
3/ an open, robustly competive, market-based economy (this is a topic in itself)

@mindyfinn Trump doesn't give a damn about the Constitution! If he did he wouldn't be violating the Emoluments clause. -
How is he violating the emoluments clause. And did you ignore how Obama named different czars?
-
Everytime the Bank of China pays rent at Trump Tower, Everytime a foreign gov pays for a hotel room, etc.
-
Number one, that is not a violation of the emoluments clause.
-
And number 2, to avoid any ethics issues, he is donating all money from foreign governments to charity.
-
3) Trump inc. is a private company & Trump won't release his taxes, he's asking us to trust him. Um...no.
