@jthurgood1 I believe "violating the rule of law" would be confirming him without passing a law, i.e., ignoring the law. -
Trump appointing him and ignoring Congress (or Congress not voting) would be more worrisome.

Please keep an eye on PEOTUS and his attention to the rule of law. Deeply concerning behavior there. Thank you for all you do.

What's the point of "Rule of Law" if we just make exceptions to it. Thanks Amash for standing against it.

@jthurgood1 confirming him without a waiver would have violated rule of law. This was duly enacting a new law. - 1 more reply

if Congress can ignore laws at whim, then there is no rule of law.

why is there a waiver clause if not for exceptions to the rule. Forefathers wouldn't have made the ability for a override

The law was created in 1947, and the first waiver was granted in 1950. Obviously, the Congress believed it could grant waivers
-
No, it means Congress decided they could ignore the law when they found it inconvenient.
-
It was the same people who created the law, just 3 years later.
-
so what? That just means the same people found it inconvenient.
