@nickgillespie @Pat_DefDaily if the law allows for a waiver, how does that violate the rule of law?

Underlying law does not provide for a waiver.
@nickgillespie @Pat_DefDaily -
And enacted laws often violate Rule of Law. RoL is about whether law is general, equal & certain.
@nickgillespie @Pat_DefDaily -
A law that smacks of a violation of the separate of powers.....

it'd be great if votes could be accompanied by an (optional) one paragraph electronic comment from each Representative.
-
so when citizens view voting summaries, they can better understand the context and logic behind each vote.
-
THIS!! Excellent idea!This would lead to more accountability & transparency. Not sure how anyone could disagree w this.

That actually makes a ton of sense. Why didn't they just change it instead?
-
Not enough votes. Most Sens./Cong. wanted this to be an exception and not the rule.
-
that's not how law works. Congress likes to just waive rules when it's convenient.
-
Did I say I agreed w the majority? I wish my Senators would have voted Nay.
