It's basic math and not debatable. If you pay w/$10 bill at the store but owe only $9, you get $1 back. Same as paying $9 upfront.

Depends on what you mean by "equal." Liberty requires Rule of Law/equal treatment under law. Nobody is suggesting equal outcomes.

No, I'm saying liberty depends on Rule of Law. If government can act arbitrarily, then liberty suffers. This is Hayek 101.

Law by government is arbitrary by nature. Government should abide by common law. It never will.
