Do you, @justinamash, have any thoughts/ideas on cutting costs for rising college tuition and student loan debt?

@justinamash in what areas could government intervention be reduced feasibly? Wouldn't reduction in aid increase cost, at least short term? -
@DanMcAlary Subsidies lead to rising tuition as schools take advantage. Reduce subsidies and market will adjust fairly quickly.

@justinamash@DanMcAlary also for artificial demand are you referring to the demand to go to school or the demand for government funding? -
@C_B3au@DanMcAlary Both are artificially inflated. -
@justinamash@DanMcAlary so you believe that less people should want to go earn a higher education? -
@C_B3au@DanMcAlary No, more people should. But the costs should not be obscured through easy loans and a lifetime of borrowing. -
@justinamash@DanMcAlary so would the cut of government intervention be on the school side or on the student loan side? -
@C_B3au@DanMcAlary Both, with respect to the federal government. -
@justinamash@DanMcAlary thank you for letting us college students pick your brain that was very kind of you, I enjoyed the conversation -
@C_B3au@justinamash Probably the only congressman willing and able to actively engage with his constituents

@justinamash@DanMcAlary what do you mean by completion? Is it completion between schools or competition between bank loan rates? -
@C_B3au@DanMcAlary Competition among schools, competition among financial institutions, and competition among students.
